Using FactSet’s December 2023 Mercury rollout as a quasi-experiment, the paper finds that GenAI adoption materially increases analyst report informational richness (more sources, broader topics, and advanced methods) and speeds issuance, but simultaneously raises forecast errors — evidence consistent with increased information synthesis costs rather than lower signal quality [page::0][page::29].
