Women Worry, Men Adopt: How Gendered Perceptions Shape the Use of Generative AI

创建于 更新于

摘要

Using a nationally representative UK survey (N≈8,000), the paper shows women use generative AI substantially less than men and that gender-differentiated societal-risk perceptions (mental health, privacy, climate, labour-market) are a primary driver—explaining roughly 9–18% of variation in adoption and outranking many skill/demographic predictors; synthetic-twin analyses indicate raising societal AI optimism can substantially increase young women's GenAI use (e.g., from ~13% to ~33%), narrowing the gender gap [page::0][page::4][page::6].
